Veterans Trail on Akron's North Side

On Friday Sept 18th, Bill Sepe, Mike Hulver, and I hiked the Veterans Trail right-of-way from the Akron city limit south to Evans Avenue - about 1.5 miles. For part of that distance, the rails had been removed and there was a dirt road which will be easy to build a trail on. At Tallmadge and Home Avenues, the ROW passes under bridges. Then, we came to a badly overgrown section where the tracks had not been removed. But when we broke out onto Evans Avenue, we were elated to see that a beautiful, new arch bridge was being constructed over the ROW. And, next to that, a new bridge over the CSX tracks was being constructed. Thank you City of Akron!
